Directives
The standing rules under which the laboratory operates. They are few, and they are followed.
Routing
The laboratory announces 2a06:9801:f46::/48 from AS219261 and nothing else. Announcements carry valid IRR objects and RPKI ROAs. Routes received from peers are filtered against IRR and validated against RPKI. The laboratory does not announce a default route and does not accept one.
Peering
Peering is open. Multiple PoPs are maintained across Lapland, Finland; equipment colocated in the same racks may open a free BGP session directly with the laboratory's routers. Sessions are best-effort research infrastructure, offered as-is and without service guarantee.
Ports run from 100Mbit/s, delivered on 1G interfaces, through 1G and 10G, up to a maximum of 25G. Faster speeds cost honey.
To arrange a session, write to noc@trunklaboratories.orgwith your AS number and a brief note on what you're doing. Suitable facilities are discussed case by case. Sessions are configured within a reasonable time; the laboratory is one person and reasonable is defined accordingly.
Abuse
Reports to abuse@trunklaboratories.orgare read by a human and answered. Useful reports include timestamps with timezone, the source and destination addresses concerned, and a log excerpt. Note before writing: certain addresses in the laboratory's range belong to a volunteer relay for a privacy-preserving network. That relay carries only encrypted traffic between other nodes of the same network; traffic neither originates from it nor exits through it. Such reports are still read, and still answered.
Logging
The laboratory logs what operating its equipment requires and nothing more. Flow-level traffic records are not kept. The volunteer relay logs nothing about the traffic it forwards, which is a design property of the network it serves, not a promise.
Discretion
The laboratory publishes what an operator needs and withholds what an adversary would enjoy. Operational details beyond the routing information above are not published. This is policy, not oversight.
